Royalty? We’d say so.
Halle Berry, Kanye West and Priyanka Chopra are just three of several stars being listed in W Magazine’s latest issue as Royals of 2016.
What is royalty in the entertainment industry, you ask? According to W‘s Editor at Large Lynn Hirschber, “Today, royalty is not a birthright but it is achieved. Through creativity, greatness, and originality, one can — especially if one goes about one’s business with a certain sense of flair — be crowned a Royal.”
So, this definition clearly explains why someone like Kanye would land on such a coveted list. According to the mag, Yeezy “is making music, fashion, merch, art, and breaking exciting new talents like Desiigner via his own record label.”
The publication even credits the rapper’s shows — given they “are among the hottest tickets at New York Fashion Week; his Pablo tour is among the hottest tickets in arenas around the country; he even staged an exhibition of his own art at a major gallery in L.A.”
As for Halle Berry, the mag praises the actress for being “one of the original female stars during the first wave of comic-book movies, when she cast thunderbolts as Storm in the first X-Men movie in 2000, a year before she won an Oscar for Monster’s Ball.”
And for all you Quantico fans out there, Indian actress Priyanka Chopra is landing on the list of Royals for being a TV heroine thanks to her role on ABC’s Quantico and per the fashion mag, “she’s already a fashion week favorite.”
Also being featured in W‘s Royals issue are Cindy Crawford, Chris Evans, Jodie Foster and Irina Shayk.
