Director Tyler Perry is offering to cover funeral expenses for twin girls that died inside a parked car last week in west Georgia. Asa North, the father of the 15-month-old girls, is accused of leaving his daughters in the hot vehicle for an extended amount of time because he was drunk.
Witnesses say after returning to the car and finding the girls unresponsive, North frantically tried to cool them off by placing them in a kiddie pool. He is now charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter and reckless conduct.
“I was with them every day and the one day I left … I just want to tell them I’m sorry,” Breal Ellis, the twins’ mother, said in an interview with a local news affiliate. “They didn’t deserve to die like that or to die, period, but I know they’re in heaven.”
In her interview, Ellis asked for help to pay for the funeral. That’s when Perry stepped in and offered to pick up the expenses.
