Normani Kordei Quits Social Media After Being Called “N*gger” And “Normonkey”

Fifth Harmony’s Normani Kordei says she’s quitting social media over racist Twitter trolls. Normani’s digital drama seems to center around a Facebook Live interview she participated in where she was asked about bandmate Camila Cabello.

In that interview, Normani described Camila as “very quirky,” an adjective some took as being shady. Normani released a long statement on Twitter addressing any notion she was being less than forthcoming with her description, saying, “It’s a shame that after four years together as a group, I have to address foolishness manufactured by those that have absolutely no idea what goes on.”

Still, there were some folks on social media who used the rumor as motivation to attack the Black singer, calling her things like “Normonkey.” One person even Photoshopped Normani’s head onto the body of someone being lynched. This sent Normani over the edge as she posted this tweet explaining why she was leaving social media.

Camila posted her own tweet, saying she doesn’t support racism of any kind.
