After a long 19 years in the NBA, champion Tim Duncan is finally saying goodbye.
The San Antonio Spurs player, who played 19 incredible seasons with the organization, officially announced his retirement on Monday morning.
Usually, when a sports player, especially on Duncan’s caliber makes a big career change, a statement or open letter comes with the announcement; however, Duncan went out quiet and humble.
The 40-year-old is bidding farewell after picking up five championships, 15 All-Star Games and breaking the record for the “only player in league history to start and win a title in three different decades.”
Following the big announcements, dozens of sports fanatics, celebrities and fellow athletes praised Duncan for being one of the best players in league history.
