Love Jones fans we’ve got good news … and bad news. The beloved 90’s movie is being remade into a musical, but Nia Long and Larenz Tate will not be reprising their roles.
According to MC Lyte, who posted the news on her Instagram account, the film is being adapted into a stage play, and will star herself, Marsha Ambrosius, Raheem DeVaughn, Musiq Soulchild, Chrisette Michele and Dave Hollister.
We’re assuming because Long, nor Tate can sing, that they were not approached to be apart of the cast, or maybe they just were unavailable. We’re not sure as of yet. Long did however tell HipHollywood back in 2013, that a sequel to the film, starring herself and Tate was in the works.
Fingers crossed that happens soon as well. In the meantime, Love Jones: The Musical is set to hit a theatre near you this fall. Oh, and Theodore Witcher, who also wrote the screenplay, will direct the musical, so we are pretty confident it will be handled appropriately.
