Well, this is awkward.
A video of George W. Bush cheerfully dancing during Tuesday’s memorial service for the slain Dallas officers has gone viral and we are all wondering: What is going on?
In the clip, Bush holds the hand of his wife, Laura, and the hand of First Lady Michelle Obama, while he and the congregation sing “The Battle Hymn Of The Republic,” a.k.a. “Glory Hallelujah.” During the chorus, the former president awkwardly sways back and forth with a bright smile on his face.
Sure, it’s a touching, uplifting song; however, Bush’s demeanor was more like he was enjoying “It’s a Small World” at Disneyland. At one point, even FLOTUS looked at him and gave an uncomfortable smile.
Oh, and we’d be remiss to not add … he was the only one onstage wearing a blue suit.
The memorial service was in honor of the five officers who lost their lives during the senseless ambush last week. The officers were shot and killed by Micah Johnson during a peaceful Black Lives Matter protest in Dallas. Johnson confirmed before being taken out by law enforcement that he wanted to kill white people — specifically, white police officers.
