A$AP Rocky wants you to reserve judgement until you hear the full story. So, to help you out, the rapper stopped by radio station Power 105.1 and talked to The Breakfast Club about how he really feels about the Black Lives Matter movement.
Rocky is all about peace and unity, at least that’s what he’s saying now. Recently, a 2015 interview with Time Out New York resurfaced where A$AP was asked about the events in Ferguson and Black Lives Matter. At the time, it seemed as though the “pretty boy” could not care less.
“So every time something happens because I’m black I gotta stand up? What the fuck am I, Al Sharpton now? I’m A$AP Rocky. I did not sign up to be no political activist. I wanna talk about my motherfuckin’ lean, my best friend dying, the girls that come in and out of my life, the jiggy fashion that I wear, my new inspirations in drugs!
“I don’t wanna talk about no Ferguson and shit because I don’t live over there! I live in fucking Soho and Beverly Hills. I can’t relate. I’m in the studio; I’m in the fashion studios; I’m in these bitches’ drawers. I’m not doing anything outside of that. That’s my life.”
Well, A$AP says those are not his true feelings and he’s trying to set the record straight. In addition to saying the interview was “taken out of context”, Rocky also hopped on Twitter to vent his frustration.
But, that wasn’t enough. The rapper, also known as Lord Flacko Jodye II, spent well over a half an hour explaining how he really feels about the state of America, police brutality, Black Lives Matter and Donald Trump while talking to DJ Envy, Charlamagne Tha God and Angela Yee. Take a listen below…overall A$AP Rocky wants you to know he cares.
