We all remember exactly where we were when Serena Williams loss the 2015 U.S. Open Semifinals to Roberta Vinci and essentially killed her chances to take the 2015 Grand Slam title. Devastating wasn’t it? We digress.
Now, after almost a full year since the shocking L, Williams is speaking out about the person the world blamed for her upsetting loss: Drake.
During the time of last year’s U.S. Open, Williams was getting pretty heated with the Canadian rapper; Dizzy was even spotted court side on numerous occasions rooting his then boo thang on. Unfortunately, folks speculated the pair’s heavy romance distracted the tennis champion, but to that she says was “not fair.”
“I’m the one who’s playing, who’s making mistakes or making winners,” she told Glamour magazine for the publication’s July issue. “I’m not one to blame anyone else for anything. And I don’t think anyone else should either. I played a really good opponent that day. And I wasn’t at my best.”
As for possibly taking a back seat in this demanding and intense career, Williams says guess again. “Who says that your thirties is when you’re supposed to be done? I would like to know who made that rule! I was talking to my mom one time, like, ‘Gosh, I’m 30.’ And she’s like, ‘In your thirties you’re even stronger than in your twenties.’ I didn’t believe her, but I have played better in my thirties,” she continued to the magazine. “My consistency is better, my momentum is better, my wins are quicker.”
And while the beauty has every intention on beating out every tennis pro in the world, she revealed to the mag “I definitely want to have kids one day. That’s something I’ve always wanted since as long as I could remember. The older I get, the more I’m like, ‘I’m too young!'”
