The White House was put on lockdown on Friday afternoon after a shooting nearby. The shooting took place near 17th and E streets, which not on White House grounds.
According to reports, a man approached a checkpoint near the WH with a gun and when asked to let it go, he refused. That’s when secret service shot the suspect, who is reportedly alive and talking.
Officials have confirmed that President Barack Obama was not at the White House during the time of the shooting, however, Vice President Joe Biden was. Biden is said to be ok and in a safe location.
The lockdown was lifted by 4 p.m. EST.
