A lot of folks are upset over Beyonce’s “Formation” being used as background music during an Australian fashion show featuring all White models. The song, considered by many to be a modern anthem celebrating Black culture, was played during the unveiling of the new Misha Collection.

Folks were quick to bash the song choice, leaving these comments on this video posted by IMGModels:

“Disgusted. I’m not black but I know Formation is a black anthem celebrating Southern American black culture. It’s not for non-black people to use and certainly not in a walk featuring no black models at all. IMG, you’re dead wrong.”

“At least have one Black model if you’re going to play our song smh.”

“Y’all catch on to our songs real quick, but still can’t implement us into your fashion shows.”

Bella Hadid, a non-Black person known for throwing the n-word around on social media, closed the show which probably didn’t help things. She has not commented on backlash, neither have the folks at Misha.

What do you think about the song choice? Are folks justified in their annoyance or is the reaction over the top?
