We love a good Kanye line and on Tuesday night, the rapper gave us just that.
Yeezy took to the social media website to reveal how many albums he sold and that very number is why he is not “regular.” After tweeting that his latest LP, The Life of Pablo “did 250 million,” the rapper explained that he is “tired of people old talking to me like I’m regular.”
Tidal announced on Tuesday that The Life of Pablo streamed 250 million times globally in its first 10 days of its release. “It’s a really good number, and it’s even more impressive that it’s only in one place,” said David Bakula, senior vice president of insight at Nielsen Music. “There’s a lot of services that can stream audio, but there’s only place where you get this album and that’s Tidal. That’s how it differentiates itself.”
Leading up to the release of the album, Ye started becoming very active on social media. From Twitter rants to Twitter feuds, Ye appeared to be positioning himself for the ultimate publicity ahead of the project. But according t of Bakula, the numbers come down to one main thing: Talent. “Kanye being outspoken and being Kanye helps get it there, but it doesn’t make it without being a quality album,” he said.
