Nearly five months after getting into a physical altercation with Matt Barnes over his estranged wife Gloria Govan, Derek Fisher is finally speaking out about the day he claims he was “attacked.”

Fisher wrote a lengthy essay posted on The Cauldron addressing his personal life, the fight between he and Barnes, and his relationship with his former teammates ex.

Derek, who was recently let go from the New York Knicks, explained that the day in October when Barnes showed up “unannounced” at Gloria’s home, he was attacked. According to Fisher, he did “not retaliate.”

“No one who was there did anything but try to get him to calm down, particularly because Matt and Gloria’s children were present,” he wrote. “There was no fight.”

But contrary to Fisher’s account, a source close to Barnes told HpHollywood exclusively that Matt did “not attack Fisher.”

In the post, Fisher also described the relationship between he and Matt, suggesting that the word “history” is an exaggeration.  “We played together for the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2010–11 season, and a couple months in the lockout-shortened 2011–12 season. That’s it,” he wrote.

Our sources also told us the two were simply, “teammates.”

As for his relationship with Gloria, Fisher confessed they started dating after she and Matt separated. Per the former NBA player, he wasn’t seeing Govan behind Matt’s back and their relationship was nothing to hide.

He added, “I was stunned and disappointed by the way Gloria was treated in the media. After the much publicized (and unfortunate) situation went down in Los Angeles last year, story after story was published that portrayed her as a piece of property, instead of the strong, independent woman and mother she is; someone who is capable of making her own decisions.”

Barnes responded to Fisher’s story with a photo of himself on Instagram with the caption: “Don’t make me get up.”
