Vin Diesel has confirmed the final three installments of the Fast & Furious franchise and we are thrilled to say, we will be anticipating films for the next five years.
The actor shared the big news on Instagram late Tuesday night with a photo that showed the release dates for each film. “The studio has asked me to release some very big Fast news,” he wrote on the social media website just hours before posting the dates.
According to Vin, the eighth installment will be released on April 14, 2017; the ninth installment on April 19, 2019 and the tenth installment will hit theaters on April 2, 2021.
While the ending of the franchise is more bitter than sweet, we are excited to see how the last three films wrap up the story line. No to mention, there are some new faces joining the crew.
Straight Outta Compton’s F. Gary Gray has signed on to direct the eighth installment which he says he was brought on “to use my own lens, and that’s what I’m here for.”
“I love the story I’m about to tell. I’m having a ton of fun,” Gray told MTV News. “I feel like a kid again. You’ll see the manifestation of that on the screen. I’m just really excited about it.”
By the time the 10th installment hits theaters, it will have been almost 20-years since the release of the first film, The Fast and The Furious, which starred the all-star cast: The late Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordan Brewster and Ja Rule.
