Producer Timbaland is letting Missy fight his battles when it comes to a scandal involving a Flint charity. Earlier this week, Timbo was accused of bailing on a charity performance at a Detroit nightclub because the venue did not have Jay Z’s Armand de Brignac brand of champagne.
Tim was scheduled to deejay for 30-minutes at the Detroit’s Club Bleu and then perform five to eight songs. The venue’s promoter Mitchell Jaworski claimed that Timbaland failed to uphold his obligation when they poured him Dom Perignon instead of Hov’s $300 a bottle liquor.
“Unfortunately, the statement made by the promoter in Detroit is simply not true,” Timbaland’s rep says in a statement provided to Billboard. Timbaland is an “extremely generous person who agreed to a much lower fee for this event to raise money for the Flint, Michigan’s water crisis. The promoter was fully aware that this was not a full band performance on stage, yet still promoted it as such. The club was still able to raise money for charity, which was our goal in doing this event all along.”
While Timbaland didn’t address the scandal directly, he did retweet this message from Missy on the same day the controversy broke.
Stay positive! Even tho u might want 2 check a few ppl👊🏾Don't go back & forth with folk who live for drama! Use your good energy elsewhere💯
