Manny Pacquiao has been dumped by Nike after making disparaging comments about gay and lesbian couples. The boxer remains under fire for saying that homosexuals are worse than animals during a campaign speech in the Philippines. Manny is currently running for a senate seat in his native country.

Aggressive efforts to salvage his business relationship with Nike proved futile as the company just released this statement:

“We find Manny Pacquiao’s comments abhorrent,” Nike says in a statement. “Nike strongly opposes discrimination of any kind and has a long history of supporting and standing up for the rights of the LGBT community. We no longer have a relationship with Manny Pacquaio.”

Those in the Filipino boxer’s corner argued that his comments were taken out of context, but the full context provided doesn’t help that argument. “It’s common sense. Do you see animals mating with the same sex? Animals are better because they can distinguish male from female. If men mate with men and women mate with women they are worse than animals,” Manny remarked during an interview with an election website.

Of course, the athlete isn’t the only person to lose an endorsement deal for talking reckless. Flip the page to see others who have suffered the same fate.
