Clive Davis’ annual pre-Grammy Gala saluting the music industry’s icons is an event stars simply don’t miss; from John Legend to Ciara and Russell Wilson, Sunday night’s soiree was yet another huge success.
And while Hollywood power players, including Miguel, LL Cool J and Sylvester Stallone rubbed elbows over dinner and amazing performances, HipHollywood was on the red carpet getting reactions from celebrities about who they would like to see take home a Grammy award. And the general consensus: Kendrick Lamar.
“I would like to see Kendrick Lamar win. Hip hop has grown and it’s ok to have an artist, a poet such as him. If he won 11 of them that would be great,” Russell Simmons said about the rapper’s impressive 11 nods, including a nomination for Album of the Year.
Aloe Blacc added, “I’m looking forward to standing up 11 times for Kendrick Lamar.”
And although multi-Grammy Award winner, Beyonce, was not nominated for a Grammy this year, her fellow artists praised the singer on Sunday for her new track, “Formation.”
Keke Palmer told us exclusively, “I love Beyonce. I always love when she is expanding on top of what she has already built. It’s amazing to see how much more she has to create and give to the world.”
DJ Khaled also showed some love for his girl who he says “is an icon” and “represents love.” As for the song receiving backlash over what SNL recently dubbed as Beyonce being “unapologetically black,” Kelly Price says it’s all “over reaction.”
HipHollywood will be at the Grammy Awards so make sure to check back in for all details following tomorrow night’s show.
The Grammys air Monday night at 5:00 PM on CBS.
