Cam Newton and his longtime girlfriend, Kia, are now proud parents to a healthy baby boy.
But while we are just now learning about the couple’s bundle of joy, the parents welcomed their first child together a week ago.
Cam took to social media on Wednesday to express why they kept the birth of their son under wraps.
“My longtime girlfriend and I were extremely blessed to have a son last week. Our family is excited and thank you all for the well wishes,” the Carolina Panthers quarterback tweeted. “I’ve been quiet about this because I didn’t want to create a distraction for my team and appreciate the privacy in this joyous time.”
We guess if anything were going to distract us all from the Panthers stellar 14-1 season, it would be a baby. This also might explain the baby rocking touchdown dance Cam delivered during Sunday’s loss against the Atlanta Falcons.
According to reports, Newton left a team practice on Christmas Eve early due to what Coach Ron Rivera said was a positive family emergency.
A Christmas baby; so special. Congrats to the couple.
