TLC singer T-Boz is firing back at folks accusing the group of not using money from a Kickstarter campaign for its intended purpose. Earlier this year, TLC asked fans to help finance a new album which was scheduled to be released in October. When October came and went without an album, folks began accusing the singers of fraud.
During an interview on the Rickey Smiley Morning Show, T-Boz addressed the controversy directly. “This is the thing, if people would do their research, everybody who donated we sent emails to weekly and on top of that we did a press release.” T-Boz blames uninformed folks on social media for creating drama, saying if those people had actually contributed to the Kickstarter, they would know what was up with the project. “We’re doing right, I sent out the press release … the information been there.”
The “Waterfalls” singer also had words for the Black community, adding, “It’s mostly our people doing it. And you don’t ever see other races on the Internet dogging other people the way that Black people do each other. It’s embarrassing and unfortunate to me.”
Does T-Boz have a point? Do Black folks enjoy tearing each other down more than other races do? Sound off in the comment section.
