Former NY Knicks draft pick, 35-year-old Michael Wright was murdered this week and an investigation is underway as to whether or not his apparent involvement in online dating website Grindr, had anything to do with the homicide.
“We don’t know anything about his personal life,” Wright’s cousin, Randolph Berry, told The New York Daily News. “All we know is that he did damage overseas. When he played ball, he destroyed everyone in front of him.”
Wright was found on Tuesday in his Lexus SUV which was parked in Brooklyn. The cause of death has still not been confirmed but detectives do say there was a suspicious wound on his head.
After helping lead the Wildcats to the NCAA tournament finals, the baller, who played with Gilbert Arenas and Kevin Garnett, was drafted in 2001 by the Knicks in the second round. Although Wright’s time with the NBA was short lived, he played in several countries overseas, including Turkey, Poland and South Korea.
