The Real Housewives of Atlanta’s NeNe Leakes recently had to forgo a trip with her fellow housewives because of her medical condition.
A source tells TMZ that the reality star had to skip out on the group’s trip to the Philippines due to the recurring blood clots that form in Glee star’s lungs. Unfortunately, a long, grueling 20-hour flight to Southeast Asia is not safe for somebody who suffers from this condition.
In November 2013, Leakes opened up about her diagnosis in a blog post that read:
“Late last week I wasn’t feeling well and was feeling a little short of breath,” she wrote after being hospitalized. “I know my body and I know shen I should be concerned so I went to the hospital to get checked out.”
She continued, “After some routine tests I was diagnosed with blood clots in my lung. I’m told this happened to me because of the constant traveling around the country that I do for my job. I’m thankful to be alive as the doctor advised me that most people don’t recognize the symptoms of blood clots and don’t go to the doctor and that’s when the big problems start happening,”
While NeNe is doing all she can to stay healthy back home, her RHOA castmates are living it up in the island country. Click to see photos of the ladies, including Kandi Burruss, Claudia Jordan, Phaedra Parks, Kenya Moore, Cynthia Bailey, Demetria McKinney and Porsha Williams.
Season 7 of the hit Bravo show premiers on November 9 at 8 p.m.
