New details are slowly emerging from Sunday’s shooting that left three injured, including Death Row Records founder, Suge Knight.
Knight, 49, was shot multiple times early Sunday morning while at Chris Brown’s pre-VMAs party at 1Oak Nightclub in Hollywood and while law enforcement was mum about some of the details regarding the incident, there are some people speaking out.
“Suge has been writing a pretty controversial film – lots of shocking details – about Tupac and exposing the truth,” one Knight friend told FOX411. “He also plans a reboot of his record label (Death Row Records) and there are still a lot of haters out there because of his past negative publicity.”
Suge was in the car with Tupac when he was shot and killed in September 1996.
Following the shooting, Knight’s family released a statement which read:
“Suge is currently resting and has lost a lot of blood, he’s human. He’s done a lot of things for the community and the culture as a whole so we ask that you respect that.”
The family is also asking fans to “keep Suge in your prayers and to stray away from the negativity portrayed by the media.”
MTV also issued a statement to USA TODAY, saying:
“MTV has no affiliation nor is connected to this event in any way.”
In cell phone video posted on Instagram, you can hear gun shots followed by a wave of commotion. According TMZ, law enforcement is focusing on “gang rivalry” as a motive behind the shooting.
Suge is expected to make a full recovery.
