Missy Elliot hasn’t dropped an album in almost 10 years, but it looks like fans can expect one soon.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Missy’s close friend and producer, Timbaland, opened up about the rapper’s upcoming music. “It’s coming,” he told the magazine. “It’s on her. She got the first single, it’s just a matter of when she wants to do it. We got the hollow-tip bullet in the gun. We have the game-changer right there.”
Missy’s last album The Cookbook came out in 2005 and Timbaland says her new sound is “something you ain’t never heard Missy do … It sounds today, but the future.”
And while talking about Missy’s upcoming album, the 42-year-old producer explained his work relationship with her, letting out the secret that he has never actually seen her record in the booth.
“I’ve never watched her record, never in my whole career,” he told Rolling Stone. “I do it, she be like, ‘OK, I got it,’ and I leave the room. She kicks us out. That’s how she do it: She does everything herself.”
Missy, who has been out of the spotlight for the past several years, she returned to the stage during June’s BET Awards for an epic performance alongside Pharrell.
