What would a Whitney Houston biopic be without the sweet sounds of Whitney’s greatest hits?
As production for the forthcoming Lifetime biopic gets underway, more details are slowly surfacing about the made for television film. In new details, it’s been confirmed that fans won’t hear the voice of Whitney or YaYa DaCosta, rather … Deborah Cox!
A rep tells E! News’ Marc Malkin that “music rights and clearances are still being worked out,” but Cox will be providing the “vocal tracks.”
When news was first reported that Angela Bassett would be making her directorial debut with the television film, Cox shared a congratulatory message via Instagram, writing:
“Super super excited to hear my girl Angela Basset will make her directorial debut with the #WhitneyHouston story for #Lifetime!!!”
Ahead of the 2015 release, fans have already seen photos of YaYa as Whitney and Arlen Escarpeta as Bobby Brown. We are excited to see more!
