If anybody can put a smile on kids faces, it’s NFL stars Colin Kaepernick and Cam Newton.
The 49ers quarterback and the Carolina Panthers’ elite QB hosted the Cartoon Network’s 4th Annual Hall of Games Awards Show on Saturday night, a one of a kind sports awards for kids. Skateboarders, bikers, NFL stars and even the Harlem Globetrotters turned the green carpet into a complete fun zone and HipHollywood was there to catch it all in action.
“Good to host with my boy Cam. We are going to try to have a good time with the kids and make everyone turn up, ” Kaepernick told HipHollywood while on the red carpet. Cam chimed in, “We are going to have fun tonight. Got to have the opportunity to have a co-host, so just see what happens.”
Thousands of kids filled the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica where some of the sports industry’s top athletes got wild and crazy. Providing entertainment for the night, exhibition basketball team The Harlem Globetrotters, Fall Out Boy and r&b stud, Jason Derulo. And considering it is Valentines Day weekend, we just had to know what the “Talk Dirty” singer did for his longtime girlfriend, Jordin Sparks?
“I wanted to do something special. I wanted to get some roses, and I was like ‘why not fill the whole room.’ So I got 10,000 orange roses because orange is her favorite color,” Deulo told us. “She had a private chef waiting with a masseuse. It was amazing, I felt like the luckiest man in the world.”
Several of the Seattle Seahawks players also attended the event and appeared to still be basking in the super bowl limelight. HH talked with fullback, Michael Robinson who opened up about life after the big win.
“Life has been great,” said Robinson. “There’s been a lot of opportunities, I’ve been out here getting some acting done, doing some hosting for NFL Network. It’s been awesome.”
Tune in for the Hall of Game Awards on Monday night, February 17 at 7 p.m. on Cartoon Network.
