Actor James Avery, known for his role as Philip Banks on the 90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, has died at the age of 68.
According to TMZ, Avery had recently undergone open heart surgery at a Glendale, CA hospital and died from complications from the operation Tuesday night.
Alfonso Riberio, who played Avery’s TV son Carlton Banks, posted the following message on his Facebook page.
James leaves behind his wife of 25 years, Barbara. According to reports, Barbara had been by Avery’s side following his surgery, but left for a brief moment and when she returned she learned that he had passed. RIP James Avery.
