Blurred Lines: Marvin Gaye’s Family Scores Victory Over Robin Thicke
Robin Thicke’s record label and Marvin Gaye’s family have settled their disagreement over Thicke’s hit song, “Blurred Lines.” Last year, Nona Marvisa Gaye and Frankie Christian Gaye filed a lawsuit against Sony/EMI, claiming their employee’s song sampled Marvin’s classic, “Got to Give It Up.”
The sides reached an out-of-court agreement this week, but the majority of the terms remain confidential. Court documents reveal that one stipulation of the settlement is that the Gayes cannot file any new claims against Sony regarding the matter in the future.
Dueling lawsuits between the Gaye family and Thicke are ongoing.
