Last night R. Kelly performed on the Arsenio show and payed respect to Nelson Mandela who had passed just hours before.
The song, “Solder’s Heart” was written by Kelly specifically for Mandela and performed during his 2006 visit to South Africa. After performing the song, Arsenio asked Kelly if he could remember the moment that he played the song in Mandela’s own living room. This is what he said about Mandela’s reaction:
“He just nodded his head, man. He was happy and very honored, as I was, to be in his presence,” said Kelly. “It was an unbelievable moment for me, as it is now.”
