Idris Elba has reached a career high and he couldn’t be more excited.
HipHollywood caught up with the UK born actor at the premiere of Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom during the Toronto International Film Festival where he joked that he can now call it quits after playing the South African President.
“It is a massive achievement for me, it’s almost like a pinnacle,” said Elba. “I don’t think I want to act anymore after this I’ve done it now.”
Based on Mandela’s autobiography of the same name, the film chronicles his early life, education and 27 years in prison before becoming President and working to rebuild the country’s once segregated society.
The film also stars Naomie Harris, who plays Winnie Mandela, and told us while the T.D. Jakes film Winnie is also being released this month, this film is the only one the Mandela family is fully behind.
Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom is in theaters November 29.
