Erykah Badu isn’t the only person Janelle Monae is collaborating with on her upcoming album, The Electric Lady. HipHollywood has learned that Monae has recruited Prince and Miguel to lend their vocals to a couple of tracks as well.
“We are great friends, and he is a mentor to us, to me,” Monae told Billboard of the collaborative effort with Prince. “It’s a beautiful thing to have a friend — someone who cares about your career and wants to see you go far and to push boundaries and shake up the world — give whatever they possibly can to the cause.”
Monae’s song with Miguel is titled “Primetime,” and is a love song.
The Electric Lady, Monae’s second studio album, is slated for release this September.
It’s been a busy year for Monae who performed at Coachella and also landed her first Essence cover. HipHollywood has on set for the latter … check out our coverage below.
